    Post-Doctoral Researcher for 2.5-year Research Contract
    Colour & Imaging Institute, University of Derby, UK

    Applications are now being accepted for a post-doctoral
    position to be filled after January 1st, 2002. This arises
    from a recently awarded research grant from the European
    Commission under the Framework-5 IST programme
    for a major collaborative research project relating to the
    acquisition of digital images from stained glass and painted
    surfaces in historic buildings. The project will develop a
    robotic carrier for a high-performance digital camera plus
    illumination for colorimetric image capture and visualisation.
    Candidates should have a PhD in a related discipline, with
    strong skills in digital image processing, and ideally with
    experience of illumination systems, computer graphics and
    digital heritage applications.

    The Colour & Imaging Institute is Europe's leading research
    centre for colour science and image engineering. The staff
    have strong expertise in vision science, colour measurement,
    colour modelling, image processing, image quality assessment
    and psychophysics. Research facilities include a suite of
    laboratories and experimental rooms, with a wide range of
    colour measuring instruments and colour imaging devices.

    The appointment will be 30 months in length. Salary will be
    on the standard UK RA1 scale, in the range 17K - 20K
    pounds, based on years of experience. Applications from
