The Department of Ophthalmology at the Medical University of South Carolina
is seeking a faculty member specializing in vision research.  Candidates for
this position should have a PhD and/or MD degree, a record of scholarly
activity and a research program that can interact with the research
strengths and interests of the department. Opportunities exist for active
collaboration with several NEI funded projects relating to the fundamental
aspects of phototransduction and the retinoid cycle, the pathogenesis and
treatment of glaucoma, cataract and specific retinal diseases.  Appointment
will be commensurate with the candidateís experience.  The University is
located on the Atlantic coast in historic Charleston.  Application
evaluation will begin April 15,  2003, and continue until the position is
