[vslist] Advice for student please

Excuse the intrusion. I have a very smart, pre-med student who is 
thinking he doesn't want a straight MD but would rather do a PhD or 
MD/PhD and is interested in working in retinal transplant or neural 
engineering domain (I know, very different areas but this is what he 
wants to look at). Any advice?
