PhD scholarship available in the Visual Neuroscience Laboratory, Department of Optometry and Vision Science, University of Auckland.

A PhD scholarship is available for a project investigating the effects of the anti-depressant drug Fluoxetine on neural plasticity within the human visual and motor cortices. The project will employ multiple investigative techniques including psychophysics, visual perceptual learning, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and genetic/epigenetic analysis of blood samples to explore the effects of Fluoxetine on the human brain. Both the normal and amblyopic visual system will be investigated. The scholarship will provide the opportunity to work alongside a number of prominent research groups within the Centre for Brain Research at the University of Auckland who are collaborating on this project.

If you are interested please send a CV, covering letter and the names of two referees to me at b.thompson at auckland.ac.nz by the 15th January 2010.
