Applications are invited for a three-year postdoctoral position to work with Anita Simmers in the Department of Vision Sciences, Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland.
You will be a creative individual with a strong background in basic or clinical vision science. Successful applicants will collaborate in designing and conducting computer-based psychophysical experiments to study visual function in normal and amblyopic subjects.
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Competence in computer programming (MatLab or C) and quantitative analytical methods are essential.
Glasgow is a very pleasant, cosmopolitan and relatively inexpensive city in which to live with a strong and vibrant vision/neuroscience community. The Department also has excellent links with the local clinical community.

The position is available from September 2010 and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
This position is funded by grants from the Chief Scientists Office in collaboration with Dr Peter Bex (Schepens Eye Research Institute, Boston, MA) and as such there may be an opportunity to spend a period of time overseas.
Dr Simmers will be attending the 2010 ARVO meeting, which would be an ideal opportunity to meet and discuss this project.
