Technician or Multi-Year Postdoc Position(s) available at the Visual and
Autonomous Exploration Systems Research Laboratory at the University of
Arizona

The Visual and Autonomous Exploration Systems Research Laboratory, founded
in 2003 by Dr. Wolfgang Fink at Caltech (http://autonomy.caltech.edu), has
now expanded to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the
University of Arizona. The lab conducts research in the following areas:
human-machine interfaces, autonomous/reasoning systems, and evolutionary
optimization, with particular focus on biomimetic (implantable) systems,
biomedical sensor development, autonomous robotics, cognitive/reasoning
systems, artificial vision, computer-optimized design, and autonomous
space exploration.

We are currently looking at filling up to three technician (multi-year
postdoc appointments may be considered) positions at the lab. In
particular we are looking for candidates with real-world project
experience and expertise in at least one of the following areas:

- Biomedical engineering
- Machine vision including stereo vision (range data)
- Advanced image processing, including image segmentation, classification,
and obstacle detection
- Robotic control for rovers and aerial platforms
- Electronics and Microelectronics with hands-on experience (especially
camera interface development)
- Evolutionary optimization techniques
- Machine learning techniques
- Optics design (e.g., Code V or related ray tracing packages) and
implementation
- Hyperspectral imaging and data analysis

Overall, candidates are required to have an extensive programming
background in C/C++, and must be well-versed in OS X or Linux.

Interested candidates should send their updated CV with publication list,
topic of PhD thesis if postdoc, list of real-world projects completed, and
three references to wfink at ece.arizona.edu

Thank you for your interest

Dr. Wolfgang Fink
