Postdoctoral Research Fellows

Six or more positions are available for outstanding early career researchers to join the new ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders (CCD). The appointees will carry out and publish research in one or more domains of cognition or its disorders, assist in PhD supervision and contribute to the intellectual life of the Centre.

These postdoctoral positions at the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders (CCD) represent exciting and unique opportunities to conduct research in a newly-formed ARC-funded Centre of Excellence. The Centre will be a hub of research in Australia for the study of cognition and cognitive disorders, with state-of-the-art research facilities, an unparalleled combination of outstanding Australian researchers and international partner investigators, and involving leading representatives from major industries and health organisations across Australia. 

The appointees will have a PhD or equivalent submitted prior to the commencement of the Fellowship. Their research program will be consistent with the goals of the Centre, which are to advance knowledge in: (1) basic theory and research in cognitive science, (2) theory-driven accounts of cognitive disorders, (3) the treatment of cognitive disorders, and (4) the neural basis of cognition and its disorders. Preference may be given to applicants with research expertise in the domains of reading, language and belief formation, or their associated disorders.

Applicants will have a strong track record relative to career stage, including publications and/or conference presentations. The level of appointment will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

The positions are available from January 2011 for a period of three years, with a one year probationary period.

Package: (Level A) base salary $68,817 to (Level B) base salary $92,103 pa, plus annual leave loading and 17% employer’s superannuation

Appointment Type: Full-time fixed- term for 3 years
