Schepens Eye Research Institute, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School,
has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Vision Rehabilitation to work
with Dr Alex Bowers and Dr Eli Peli. The overall goal of the project is
to improve rehabilitation strategies for hemianopia and spatial
neglect,<b> </b>two of the main visual-perceptual consequences of severe
traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke. The impact on functional
performance of optical (prismatic) interventions combined with
perceptual-motor training and other training modalities will be evaluated
in real and virtual environments (including a driving simulator and a
walking simulator).<br><br>
The ideal candidate will have completed (or be about to complete) their
PhD, will have a strong background in clinical vision science,
rehabilitation research or visual psychophysics, experience of using
virtual environments as an assessment tool, experience with eye movement
research and a keen interest in working with people with cognitive and
vision impairments. <br><br>
The position is initially available for 1 year with the possibility of an
extension for another 2 years. Start date is Winter 2010, with some
flexibility.<br><br>
