A fully funded Graduate Assistantship in our doctoral program may be available to work with Bill Stine in the Department of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire.  His lab is currently focused on various aspects of stereopsis and motion-induced blindness, with the support of one senior graduate student and roughly 10 undergraduates.

More generally, the Department of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire is currently recruiting five to seven students for our doctoral program.  All graduate students who are admitted to the Ph.D. program receive a Graduate Assistantship that includes a full tuition waiver and stipend for at least five years, contingent on university funding and successful progress.  The basic goal of our five-year program is the development of behavioral scientists who have a broad knowledge of psychology, can teach and communicate effectively, and can carry out sound research in their area of specialization. Although some students seek employment outside academia, the program is oriented toward developing the skills required by the research psychologist who intends to join a college or university faculty.  About 75% of our recent Ph.D.'s have taken positions at colleges and universities across the United States.  Indeed, our Preparing Future Faculty program received an Honorable Mention during the first American Psychological Association Award for Innovative Practices in Graduate Education competition.

Our program is organized into three clusters: i) Brain, Behavior, and Cognition, which includes Animal Cognition, Behavioral Neuroscience, Cognition, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Sensation and Perception; ii) Social/Personality; and iii) Developmental Psychology. With a student-to-faculty ratio of approximately 3:2, students work closely with faculty in conducting their research. En route to their Ph.D., students obtain a Master's degree based on an empirical study.

The University of New Hampshire is a major research institution, providing comprehensive, high-quality undergraduate programs and graduate programs of distinction.  UNH is located in Durham, population of 14,500, on a 188-acre campus, 65 miles north of Boston/Cambridge, 70 miles south of the White Mountain National Forest, and 15 miles from the Atlantic coast.
