We are pleased to announce an extended deadline for the one page abstract submission (March 5, 2017) for the MIPS XVII conference. Student scholarships are available. See details below. We look forward to seeing you in Houston this July!

We are pleased to announce that the MIPS XVII conference will be held July 12-15, 2017 in Houston, TX!

Important Dates
·         Abstract deadline: March 5, 2017
·         Student scholar application deadline: March 31, 2017
·         Notification of abstract acceptance: March 17, 2017
·         Early registration deadline: June 16, 2017
·         Hotel booking deadline: June 21, 2017



Abstract Submission
Submissions should be sent to mips2017xvii at utlists.utexas.edu using the following format:
·         1) Times New Roman Font Single-spaced unless otherwise indicated
·         2) Title: 26-pt Bold Centered
·         3) Blank line
·         4) Authors & Degrees: 12-pt, Plain, Centered
·         5) Department(s) & Institution(s): 12-pt Italics, Centered
·         6) Blank line
·         7) Headings for Rationale, Methods, Results, Conclusions: 20-pt, Bold, Left-justified
·         8) Blank line
·         9) Rationale, Methods, Results, Conclusions: 12-pt, Plain, Left-justified (350 - 500 words max)
·         10) May include 1 figure

Topic areas include, but not limited to:
(1) Abnormality detection & discrimination

(2) Cognition, psychophysics & behavior

(3) Perception errors

(4) Search patterns

(5) Human & ideal observer models

(6) Computer-based perception
(7) Displays & ergonomic factors

(8) Role image processing/analysis

Scholarships
Scholarships will be available to students. These scholarships are primarily available to students who are presenting. To be considered for a scholarship, students need to submit an extended abstract that is 3 pages long along with the standard abstract information. The same content sections should be included with more in-depth detail. A letter from your advisor verifying student status should also be included.

Hotel Information
We have booked a block of rooms at The Whitehouse Houston Hotel in Houston, TX which is where the conference sessions will also take place. Check-in with the conference rate is available starting July 9th through July 17th for those wishing to arrive early or stay longer to visit. The rate is $134 per night for 1 person/room including breakfast and $149 for 2 people per room (excluding taxes & incidental charges). Rooms include free wifi. Cut-off date to make hotel reservation at reserved rate is June 21, 2017. After this date regular room rates will apply.
