Postdoc position at UC Berkeley: Central vs. peripheral vision, and vision in the presence of macular disease
Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral position in the lab of Susana Chung at UC Berkeley School of Optometry. The position is funded by a research grant from NIH aiming at understanding factors that limit spatial vision in normal central and peripheral vision, and in persons with macular disease.
Currently, we are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong background in at least two of the following areas to join the lab: visual psychophysics, retinal imaging, image processing and computational modeling. Expertise in other areas will also be considered, as long as they match the general research directions of the lab. The successful applicant should have, or will have his/her PhD in Vision Science, Bio-engineering, Optical engineering or a closely related discipline. Proficiency in programming in MATLAB, C/C++ or Python is a must. The position is ideal for an outstanding basic scientist who would like to apply his/her skills to patient work.
Salary will follow the standard NIH Postdoc scale. Start date is flexible. Initial appointment will be for one year, with possible continuation based on performance.
Interested individuals please send (1) a letter of interest, (2) a CV, and (3) three representative publications, and (4) names and contact information of three references to s.chung at berkeley.edu <mailto:s.chung at berkeley.edu>. Dr. Chung will be attending ARVO and VSS, and will be available to meet with interested candidates.
