Wichita State University (WSU) is hiring a professor in psychology to also head their Regional Institute on Aging. This could be a wonderful opportunity for a vision scientist, particularly if you have experience with older drivers, low vision or child visual development (development as an aging process!). This position was previously held by a vision scientist with human factors experience (Dr. Alex Chaparro).

The Envision Research Institute collaborates with WSU, providing access to blind and visual impaired populations across the lifespan. In addition to the research institute, Envision has a low vision rehabilitation clinic (medical director: Donald Fletcher, MD), early childhood development center, manufacturing facility that employs BVI individuals and numerous outreach programs including the LevelUp technology summer conference for middle and high school kids. In addition to the vision resources listed here, WSU is building its innovation campus with outstanding facilities including an impressively equipped maker space, access to industry on campus and community collaboration opportunities. Relevant to vision science is the growing biomedical engineering department and an emerging initiative to establish an accessibility technology center.
