An NIH funded postdoctoral position is advertised to study the mechanisms
of visual cortex plasticity following injury by fMRI. Patients with visual
system injuries will be recruited from a large pool of patients seen in low
vision clinic and the stroke service at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and
the Boston JP VA. State of the art population receptive field methods will
be used to map visual cortex organization before and after appropriate
rehabilitative training. Particular focus will be placed on identifying and
characterizing imaging biomarkers predictive of improved recovery by fMRI
and in select patients by MEG.
Applicants must be strongly motivated with a keen interest in visual system
plasticity and with a strong record of achievement in systems neuroscience
as evidenced by prior publications. Prior experience with neuroimaging and
facility with computational methods for imaging data analysis is essential.
