JOB TITLE

Sr. Imaging Research Scientist

OVERVIEW

The qualified individual will design and build experimental camera
prototypes, characterize state-of-the-art experimental imaging sensors,
evaluate image quality and maintain a characterization lab.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

-          RTL digital design

-          PCB schematic design, layout

-          light source design (when applicable)

-          overseeing camera enclosure design, camera assembly

-          prototype bring-up and debug

-          development of image capture software

-          development of camera firmware

-          setting up experiments, capturing image and any necessary
experimental data

-          statistical analysis of experimental data

-          characterization of experimental imaging sensors, cameras and
pixel performance including signal, various noises, dark current, spectral
response, accuracy, signal non-uniformity and various other characteristics

-          Evaluation of image quality

-          Showing demonstrations

-          Analysis and debug of sensor and camera performance

-          Run and maintain characterization laboratory, including
equipment ordering and set-up

-          Automation of experiments

-          Documentation and reporting of results

-          Writing patent disclosures and papers



REQUIRED SKILLS

·         MS degree in EE, CS or another engineering area minimum

·         Proven experience with digital RTL design, simulation and
synthesis

·         Good knowledge of Verilog HDL

·         Experience with PCB schematic design, layout

·         Experience of FPGA-based design

·         Experience with board-level debug

·         Experience with embedded firmware development

·         Understanding of board-level analog design concepts

·         Excellent problem solving skills

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Must be a quick learner

·         Must be motivated and able to work without supervision

·         Understanding of imaging principles

·         Working experience with Matlab

·         Working experience with C++, Microsoft Visual Studio and software
development for Windows

·         Solid knowledge of measurement fundamentals including statistics

·         Strong ability to debug software and hardware



PREFERRED SKILLS

·         PhD degree is highly desirable

·         Experience with camera design

·         Hands-on experience with characterization

·         Familiarity with semiconductor physics, optics, color science,
image processing algorithms

·         Experience with machine learning, deep learning, neural networks,
computer vision
