Full-Time Postdoctoral Fellow/Programmer in Vision Science/Image Processing

Interested in joining a large active research group with outstanding facilities, in a great location, that is doing state-of-the-art work that matters?

Schepens Eye Research Institute, Mass Eye and Ear, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral fellow/programmer to work with Prof. Eli Peli (http://serinet.meei.harvard.edu/faculty/peli/) and colleagues in the Mobility Enhancement and Vision Rehabilitation Center of Excellence.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly-motivated person with computer science/biomedical engineering background with above-average computer programming skills who would enjoy the challenge of working with virtual reality systems (Oculus Rift head-mounted display) and image processing (computational photography and light-field) for people with vision impairments.

Major responsibilities will be developing image rendering software with head tracking feature for Oculus Rift and image processing software for captured light-field images. Developed software will be tested by simulating vision with visual prostheses. Experience in vision science, optics, GPU processing, head-mounted display, or background in a related research field would be advantageous.
PhD in an area related to computer science (or electrical/biomedical engineering) is required. Good problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks are essential. Knowledge of human vision, statistics or experience with visually impaired people would be a plus.

The position is initially available for 12 months with possible extension. In addition to the online application (https://meei.referrals.selectminds.com/jobs/research-fellow-be-830), interested candidates should send an email to Jae-Hyun Jung at jaehyun_jung at meei.harvard.edu and should include a CV, a letter of interest, the expected date of availability, and contact information for at least 2 references (in .pdf format).Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
