A 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in the field of ultra-low and prosthetic vision
assessment is available in my lab.
Graduates are invited regardless of degree field, nationality, gender, or
orientation. What I am looking for is someone well trained in visual
psychophysics, experiment design, data collection and analysis, and
statistics. A brief description of the principal research projects follows:
1) Development and validation of ultra-low vision assessments through both
self-report and performance measures, in collaboration with colleagues at
the Chicago Lighthouse and organizations for the visually impaired in the
Baltimore area. Performance measures include visual judgments as well as
hand-eye coordination and orientation & mobility assessments in individuals
with rudimentary and prosthetic vision.
2) Optimization of phosphene localization and mapping methods, as well as
simulated prosthetic vision assessments, in preparation for actual cortical
prosthetic implants anticipated within the next 2-3 years.
Further details available on request; inquiries welcome!
