Opportunity for research staff position in mixed-reality medical imaging devices



The Division of Imaging, Diagnostics, and Software Reliability (DIDSR) at the Office of Science and Engineering Laboratories (OSEL/CDRH/OMPT/FDA) is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for staff research positions on the study and characterization of mixed-reality medical technologies including augmented-, virtual-, and remote-reality (mixed-reality) medical imaging devices. Candidates should have a graduate degree with a strong background in engineering, physics, computer science, or optics. Preference will be placed on candidates with a proven research record and interests in hands-on experimental hardware characterization and objective evaluation of image quality and perceptual factors of mixed-reality devices. Applications include assessment of co-localization accuracy, measurement of spatial and temporal artifacts, and gaze-aware adaptive optics. The selected candidate will join an active research group in regulatory science areas in experimental and computational medical imaging (see https://www.fda.gov/aboutfda/centersoffices/officeofmedicalproductsandtobacco/cdrh/cdrhoffices/ucm299950.htm). The position is available immediately and located in the White Oak campus in Silver Spring within the metropolitan DC region with multiple opportunities for further training and collaborations within and outside the FDA. All levels of experience and seniority will be considered. Candidates must undergo a background investigation and need to have resided in the United States for at least three of the past five years.
