Faculty in the Cognition and Neural Science program at the University of Utah are now accepting applications for the doctoral program for Fall 2018. Our group is focused on applied cognitive questions, particularly applications of attention, spatial perception and cognition, and reading research. We are a highly interdisciplinary group with a long history of collaborations across labs within our area. Thanks to recent grant successes, our group is in need of more qualified graduate students to aid in work related to medical image perception, augmented reality use, data visualization, neural correlates of visual search and attentive tracking, quantifying the costs of interruption, distracted driving, building virtual environments for navigation, visual attention and eye-movement control in reading, electrophysiological mechanisms of visual language processing, cognitive aging. We are particularly interested in prospective students who have a strong interest/ability in EEG, traditional or mobile eye-tracking, virtual reality, or programming. Please highlight these strengths in your application.

The CNS Graduate program aims to provide training in cognitive psychology, emphasizing both neural and applied levels of analysis. Our program uses a mentor system that permits new students to join an ongoing program of research in a particular laboratory with opportunities for co-advising and cross laboratory research encouraged. Students are trained for careers in both academia and industry; the curriculum is therefore designed to help students gain expertise in basic research techniques, theory development, and teaching skills. All students are encouraged to present their research at scientific conferences and to publish their research in professional journals. In addition to official transcripts, applicants must submit their GRE test scores and three letters of recommendation. To be considered for admission, please submit your online application with all supporting materials by December 1rst.

Faculty include:

Sarah Creem-Regehr
