We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral research fellow with experience in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to work with us at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia on projects investigating the neural basis of attention.

The successful candidate will work with us on our two Australian Research Council Discovery Project grants. The first project “Improving inferences from brain imaging to understand selective attention” aims to understand the neural basis for selective attention, and, particularly, to combine rigorous experimental design with innovative analysis methods to draw links between neural activation and human behaviour. The second project “Why is monitoring for rare events so difficult and what can we do about it?” explores what information is and is not represented in the brain when attention lapses under vigilance conditions.

The postdoctoral fellow will work both independently and collaboratively within the context of a research team spanning four countries, with the main nodes being Macquarie University (Australia) and Cambridge University (UK). With international collaboration and mentoring, scope to contribute to all aspects of the research, and opportunities for student supervision (PhD and Masters) and outreach activities, this position is an excellent career development opportunity for an outstanding early career researcher.
