1-year Open position (Assegno di ricerca) in Computer Science at the Department of Informatics, Bioengineering, Robotics and Systems Engineering (DIBRIS), University of Genoa, Italy
Annual gross salary € 23.250,00 . The position may be renewed for a second year.
We are seeking candidates for working on the project "DIONISO: Wearable vision systems for Search&Rescue scenarios” (PON R&C 2007-2013, Smart Cities and Communities and social Innovation).
The proposed job focuses on the use of intelligent systems in Search&Rescue scenarios, to favour the research phase with the automatic creation of maps of the scene from data acquired with wearable devices provided to rescue personnel.
In particular, goals of the work will be the study, development, and validation of Computer Vision algorithms to
• Automatically detect adaptive scene landmarks from image sequences;
• Learn temporal models of the observed scene;
• Accurately reconstruct scene maps based on integrating SLAM techniques and the temporal models.
A master degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required. Although not mandatory, a PhD degree would be an add-on. Fluency in written and spoken English is also required. For the themes considered in the project, a background in Computer Vision and Machine Learning is needed.
The work will be carried on at the DIBRIS, in Genoa.
