The Translational Neuroscience Lab Division of the Center for Biomedical Imaging and Neuromodulation (C-BIN) at the Nathan Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to start in the summer of 2018. We are seeking a self-motivated scientist, who is interested in joining a research team investigating the neural underpinning of whole brain interactions under a variety of cognitive states. The fellow will be supervised jointly by Drs. Brian Russ and Charles Schroeder and will work with the larger the C-BIN research team (https://www.nki.rfmh.org/research/center-biomedical-imaging-and-neuromodulation-c-bin).
The fellow’s main research project would entail investigating natural active vision, in particular, how natural visual processing operates from the single neuron through the systems level. The research will involve, but not be limited to, nonhuman primate behavior, electrophysiological recordings, fMRI, optogenetics, and DREADDs.  We are interested in developing the research interests of the candidate as well, and are willing to expand our research program with new and exciting research directions related to the overarching goals of the center.
The ideal candidate would have a background in systems and computational neuroscience with an emphasis on nonhuman primate and/or fMRI research. Expertise in training nonhuman primates, electrophysiological techniques and analyses, fMRI protocols and analysis, and programming skills (Python and/or Matlab) would be preferential.
