Postdoctoral Research Associate in Retinal Imaging

This post is for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Researcher interested in high-resolution in vivo imaging of human retina in healthy and diseased eyes, who will join the Perception Lab headed by Professor Hannah Smithson (http://www.psy.ox.ac.uk/research/perception-lab). The post is fixed-term for 12 months.

The successful candidate will work within a collaborative team of researchers using adaptive optics scanning ophthalmoscopy to address fundamental questions about the structure and function of the human retina. You will develop imaging protocols that can be used with psychophysical assessment of visual performance and with clinical imaging.

With knowledge of the challenges of in vivo biological imaging, the successful candidate will liaise with instrumentation specialists to optimise the design of our imaging system. You will play a key role in the design and running of imaging protocols, and work collaboratively on image processing and data analysis.

A PhD/DPhil in imaging, vision science or related discipline is essential. Candidates with prior experience with in vivo retinal imaging in humans and an interest in the development of novel techniques and research strategies are encouraged to apply. You must be enthusiastic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a demonstrable publication record, competence in programming and optics, and a willingness to contribute to the supervision of PhD students and Medical Research Fellows, giving guidance and advice on imaging and data analysis.
