Post-Doctoral Scientist Position to Study the Neuronal Circuits of Decision-Making

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated post-doctoral fellow to participate in a series of exciting experiments aimed at understanding how brain circuits encode perceptual information and how memories are integrated with perceptions to form decisions. The successful candidate will perform electrophysiological, psychophysical and optogenetic experiments in monkeys. The lab has ongoing collaborations with a number of other investigators at UCLA, so the successful candidate will have opportunities to learn cutting-edge circuit-based techniques across multiple species. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in his/her scientific project and be responsible for all aspects of the project including data collection and analysis, and preparation and completion of scientific publications in collaboration with the PI. The successful candidate should hold an M.D. or Ph.D. in Neuroscience (or related field), have experience with electrophysiological experimental techniques, ideally in monkeys, and relevant analytical methods. Proficiency in Matlab is essential. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently but also be a team-player and have a proven track record (e.g. first-author publications) in the field of Neuroscience or related fields. UCLA has a vibrant Neuroscience community with many investigators who are interested in similar scientific problems. Please see information posted at the Brain Research Institute, the David Geffen School of Medicine and the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior for further details about the Neuroscience community at UCLA.
