A generously funded (£25-30k) PhD position is now available in the lab of Prof Marina Bloj at the University of Bradford<https://www.brad.ac.uk/external/>.

The project will investigate how our ability to remember and recognise objects and materials is influenced by dynamics (e.g. movement) and changes over time (aging).

In order to do this, we will use psychophysics, computational modelling and rendering. The project will extend beyond a lab setting to real-world applications (industry and museums).

This project is part of a much larger network. Specifically, the PhD student will joinDyViTo: an Innovative Training Network which is funded by an EU Horizon 2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action.

The DyViTo (Dynamics in Vision and Touch- the look and feel of stuff) network comprises a network of leading scientists and innovators who are undertaking the challenge of creating virtual objects that look, feel, move and change like the ‘real thing’.

More information about the network is available on the DyViTo homepage<https://dyvito.com/>.

DyViTo provides the PhD student with the opportunity to visit academic partners (University of Giessen<http://www.uni-giessen.de/faculties/f06/psy/departments-1/generalpsychology/general-psychology/view?set_language=en>, Germany) and industrial collaborators (Allegorithmic<https://www.allegorithmic.com/substance>, France; National Science and Media Museum, Bradford) for research secondments.
