Postdoctoral position in psychophysics and motion analysis for new technology for visually impaired children - [ Postdoc ]

A 24 months postdoctoral position focusing on the study of multisensory integration in children and adults with and without sensory and motor disabilities will be available starting from September 2018 in a fully equipped laboratory in the “U-VIP” (Unit for Visually Impaired People) Research Line mentored by Dr Monica Gori.
The selected candidate will work on the study of spatial perception and on the development of new rehabilitative devices for visually impaired children.
The goal of the project is to develop technologies to support the inclusion of adults and children with visual disabilities through:
• The development of a new set of devices to rehabilitate spatial cognition, mobility and social interaction of children and adults with visual deficits through natural audio-motor and tactile-motor associations.
• The demonstration and the validation of the technology through user, experimental and clinical studies.
Research for this position will involve:
• The evaluation of spatial, EEG, mobility and social skills in visually impaired children through psychophysical and behavioral experiments
• The design of devices, experiments, clinical testing and data analysis.
The ideal candidate should possess a Master Degree in Biomedical Engineering and a Ph.D. Degree in neuroscience field.
He/she should also have published at least one article in peer-reviewed scientific journals in the related field. Experience with psychophysical measurements, motion tracking, EEG, data analysis, assistive technologies, statistics and programming are an asset. Excellent knowledge of English and Italian is also required. Moreover, previous experience with clinical population and knowledge related to visual impairment and sensory-motor skills are desired. The candidate should have knowledge in Matlab.
Salary will be highly competitive and commensurate with qualification and experience.
