Tenure-Track Position: Professor of Artificial Intelligence
École de technologie supérieure <https://www.career.etsmtl.ca/> (ÉTS) is
one of the largest engineering schools in Canada, with a student body
numbering over 10,700, including 2,800 students at the graduate and
postgraduate levels. ÉTS offers undergraduate and graduate programs
designed with an applied engineering focus. It cultivates close ties with
industry through a dynamic cooperative education program, and boasts an
outstanding degree of partnership-based research and innovation.

its research and innovation activities over the last few years, allowing it
to acquire world-class infrastructures, and the high-level research
conducted in the institution ranks it among the top engineering educational

The ÉTS Automated Manufacturing Engineering

Canada) is seeking a professor of *Artificial Intelligence*. The
candidate’s research activities will be added to existing projects and will
serve to strengthen the strategic focus of the research carried out by the
Department and by ÉTS in relation to the area. The candidate may join the
following research unit within the Department: LIVIA

Areas of expertise sought

The candidate must demonstrate advanced scientific and professional
competencies in one or more of the following fields:

•    Computer vision;
•    Machine learning;
•    Pattern recognition;
•    Multimodal data fusion;
•    Biometrics;


*Description of position*

The candidates sought will:

•    Teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels in one or more
of the above-
      mentioned fields;
•    Mentor graduate students;
•    Carry out funded or contractual interdisciplinary research projects,
jointly with industry
      and in work places;
•    Develop a research program;
•    Publish scientific articles;
•    Complete grant applications, particularly those directed at NSERC and
FRQNT.

Qualification requirements


   - Must hold a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Applied Sciences;
   - Must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
   Science or equivalent;
   - Must be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ), or take
   the necessary steps to become one before applying for tenure;
   - Must have industry experience or experience conducting research in
   close collaboration with industry. If the candidate does not have related
   industry experience, then such experience may be substituted by solid R&D
   experience, or the candidate must agree to acquire such experience through
   an industrial practicum;
   - Must demonstrate excellent research and teaching skills. Industrial or
   R&D experience is an asset;
   - Must be proficient in written and spoken French in accordance with the ÉTS
   Language Policy

   demonstrate a willingness to learn French and embark on a francization
   process supported by ÉTS.
