CALL FOR PAPERS

Special Issue Call for Papers - “Multimedia Systems and Applications
in Biomedicine”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aims and Scope

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering: Imaging &
Visualization (http://www.tandfonline.com/toc/tciv20/current) invites
submissions to the Special Issue on “Multimedia Systems and
Applications in Biomedicine”.

Advances in computing techniques, data acquisition technology,
hardware, and networks have mutually promoted the development of
multimedia analysis approaches. Many machine learning, signal/image
processing, and data mining algorithms have been successfully
developed for multimedia analysis. WIthin the multimedia domain,
medical data analysis has attracted considerable attention due in part
to the increase of imaging modalities.

Consider the assessment of the functioning of the heart. Physicians
have multiple resources and modalities available, including:
auscultation which can produce a report in text format;
electrocardiograms which result in time series, x-rays saved as
images; volumes provided through angiography; temporal information
given by echocardiograms, and 4D information extracted through flow
MRI.

Since gathering medical data is now easier than ever before, existing
multimedia learning methods are expected to embrace new challenges to
deal with large-scale medical data that may share totally different
data distributions or may continuously change over time.

This special issue will serve as a way to set the state of the art in
the advances in multimedia learning methods for various medical
applications.
