Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellowship at the
Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience. The successful candidate will
work with Associate Professor Redmond O’Connell (Trinity College Dublin)
and, in collaboration with Associate Professor Simon Kelly (University
College Dublin), pursue an exciting research program examining the neural
principles and processes underpinning normal and abnormal decision making.
This work comprises both basic and translational research and employs a
range of psychophysiological techniques including EEG, fMRI, autonomic
system measurement, transcranial stimulation and computational modelling. A
key focus of our current work is to leverage newly identified human brain
signatures of decision formation to guide the development of computational
models that can account for the actual implementation of decisions in the
brain as well as their outcome (i.e. behaviour).

The O’Connell and Kelly labs comprise numerous undergraduate, postgraduate
and postdoctoral researchers, providing a rich environment for exchanging
ideas and learning new skills. The O’Connell laboratory is based at the
Trinity College Institute of Neuroscience which hosts state-of-the-art
facilities including 3T magnetic resonance imaging and dedicated EEG, TMS
and psychophysics suites.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience or a related field
and have experience and strong interest in cognitive neuroscience. The
candidate must also have strong analytic skills and proficiency in
programming (particularly Matlab and/or Python) will be an essential
prerequisite. The candidate must also have published research in the field
of perception/cognition using psychophysics, EEG and/or computational
modeling.

The position is available from September 1st 2018 and for a duration of 2.5
years with the possibility of extension (salary €37,750 – €42,394 per
annum). Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled; the
first review of applications will be in mid-July 2018.

Applications should be sent electronically and include a CV (incl. full
publication list), a statement of interest, and the names and email
addresses of two referees. Please send these materials to reoconne at tcd.ie.
