CALL FOR PAPERS

The fast and broad progresses in AI has not only enabled great advances in
the analysis of human behavior but has also opened new
possibilities for generating realistic human-like behavioral data.
Notable examples relate to the synthesis of realistic-looking images
of people, to the generation of human-sounding speech as well as to
the design of robots that are more and more accurate in reading and
mimicking human emotions. The workshop will focus on recent advances and
novel methodologies for generating data containing human-like
behavior.

The HBU Workshops, previously organized as satellite to ICPR'10,
AMI'11, IROS'12, ACM Multimedia'13, ECCV'14, UBICOMP'15, ACM
Multimedia'16, and FG'18 Conferences, have a unique aspect of
fostering cross-pollination of different disciplines, bringing
together researchers of mobile and ubiquitous computing, computer
vision, multimedia, robotics, HCI, artificial intelligence, pattern
recognition, interaction design, ambient intelligence, and psychology.

The 9th HBU workshop, in addition to covering the main themes of human
behavior understanding, specifically deals with generating visual data
of human behavior. More precisely we seek for contributions describing
new methodologies allowing to generate either still images or videos
containing face(s) and/or full body(ies) or modifying attributes of
faces (e.g. expression) and/or bodies (e.g. human pose). Contributions
based on deep neural architectures are welcome, as well as methods
based on parametric models.

TOPICS include but are not limited to:

GENERATING VISUAL DATA OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR
Generation of faces and modification of their attributes (e.g. age,
expression)
Generation of human bodies for behavior analysis
Synthesis of visual data representing individual and collective human
activities
Deep generative models for image/video generation of human behavior
Parametric models for the synthesis of faces/bodies
Generation of multi-modal (vision and beyond) human behavioral data
Exploration of text-based descriptions linked with visual
representation generation
Applications (e.g. surveillance, autonomous driving, fashion, robotics)

Affect analysis
Face analysis
Gaze, attention and saliency
Gestures and haptic interaction
Learning and adaptation
Social signal processing
Voice and speech analysis

THEORY AND METHODOLOGY OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR

Data collection, annotation, and benchmarking
Interaction design
Theoretical frameworks of behavior analysis
User studies and human factors

Papers must be submitted online through the CMT submission system at:
https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/HBUGEN2018/
and will be double-blind peer reviewed by at least two reviewers.
Submissions should conform to the ECCV 2018 proceedings style.

We expect two kind of submissions:

- Full submissions: 14 pages (ECCV format) NOT including references

- Extended abstracts: 6 pages (ECCV format) NOT including references.
