TOPICS:
In the last decade, the developments of material technologies, lithographic processes, and assisted VLSI design techniques has enabled the conception and fabrication of new visual sensors and processors. These new sensors and processors allow new ways to sense visual information, bringing immense advantages for a variety of applications. Examples of such unconventional visual sensors and processors include Dynamic Vision Sensors, Light-Field Cameras, Multi-Spectral Imagers, Near-Focal Plane Sensor-Processors, and many others.
These sensors call for new algorithms that exploit the nature and the new format of the information they report. On the (robotic) application side, integration of the new sensors and algorithms with the rest of the systems is needed. This workshop aims at building a bridge between the communities involved in the design of such unconventional sensors, as well as the new algorithms for them and the robotics community that can benefit immensely from their use.
A number of top speakers within these three fields will showcase their technology in interactive demonstrations, accompanied by short insightful talks.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
Hardware: vision sensors, smart cameras, embedded systems for visual processing, near-focal plane sensing and processing, computational imagers, light-field cameras, multispectral imagers, etc.
Algorithms: signal processing for vision, compressed sensing, neuromorphic vision, event-based vision, active vision, etc.
Applications: vision-based SLAM, visual odometry, vision-based navigation, vision-based manipulation, vision-based testing and control
