ARC Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computer Vision for Space
Surveillance
--------------------
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher for the ARC-funded project
"Space-Based Space Surveillance with Robust Computer Vision Algorithms".
The researcher will be developing, implementing and testing robust computer
vision algorithms for space surveillance and related areas. The researcher
will come under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr Tat-Jun Chin and
Dr Matthew Tetlow. There will also be a strong emphasis on and funding
support for conducting basic research and publishing at the major computer
vision and machine learning venues.

This role will involve the following duties:
- Developing and testing algorithms for optical space surveillance and
related areas.
- Collaborating with industry partners to transfer research outputs to
commercial products.
- Conducting basic research and publishing in computer vision and machine
learning.

Level B $94,135

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 9.5% applies .

This fixed-term contract is available immediately for a duration of two
years.

Position requirements
--------------------
To be successful you should have:
- A PhD in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other relevant
discipline (if thesis submission is pending, state expected submission
date).
- Demonstrated strong research capability and/or potential, in terms of
publishing at the major venues in computer vision and/or machine learning.
- Has the experience and/or ability to conduct technology transfer to
industry partners.
- Able to perform collaborative research with researchers and engineers.
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desirable characteristics are:
- Has the experience and/or ability to contribute to the promotion of
research capabilities to industry and the wider community.
