FA4ADAS: Face Analysis for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
I. Abstract
Recent years have witnessed major advances of human centric Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in automotive industry and companies. The objective is to incorporate driver/rider state, situational context and adaptive interaction, to automatically transfer control between vehicle and driver/rider and thus ensure safety and comfort in driving for all vehicle types (conventional and electric car, truck, motorcycle).
Among ADAS solutions, the most demanding examples are related to monitoring systems, where the driver centric behaviour and its related analysis (e.g. automatic face and gesture analysis) are the focus of interest. Here, the goal is to leverage and analysis of the facial data to better understand the user experience of the car driver and to avoid potentially unsafe manoeuvres by alerting drivers. Additionally, the ability to accurately detect facial expression is being viewed as a significant enhancement to the human-machine interface in vehicles, which can help smart cars to have a solid grasp of the inside of the car. We propose to run a an all-day workshop on Face Analysis for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (FA4ADAS) .
II. Potential Topics
The goal of this workshop is to bring together researchers and practitioners from all areas of affective computing, face and gesture analysis, machine learning, psychology, and cognitive behavior to share their expertise and achievements in the emerging field of face analysis for ADAS . This interaction would also lead to new datasets or combination of existing datasets. Topics of interest may span items from the following topic dimensions:
* Driver behavior analysis for car safety
* Human-car interaction
* Image and video based facial expression analysis
* Advanced driver assistance systems
* Deep learning in face emotion detection
* Domain adaptation/ transfer learning based cross-database facial data
* Spontaneous facial expression analysis
* Face pose and gaze tracking
* Driver's sleepiness and fatigue detection
* Multimodality emotion recognition and understanding
* Gesture recognition and assessment
* Single and/or multi-view face alignment
* Datasets and protocols for evaluating driver state detection methods
