The Centre for Vision, Speech, and Signal Processing is seeking to recruit a full-time researcher to contribute to research into human pose estimation, facial feature tracking, language translation and Sign Language recognition as part of the EPSRC Project "End to End Translation of British Sign Language (ExTOL)".

You will join an established research group within a highly rated research department, with an excellent computing and software infrastructure for first class research, modern facilities and close links with industry. The project is in close collaboration with the Visual Geometry Group at the University of Oxford (Zisserman) and the Deafness, Cognition and Language Research Centre at UCL (Cormier and Woll).

The work will involve the use of computer vision and deep learning for the identification, tracking and estimation of humans in video with specific application to the recognition of sign language. The applicant should have (or be in the final stages of completing) a PhD in a related area with a track record of publishing high quality research. They should have good analytical and programming skills and experience of computer vision and machine/deep learning. You do not need previous knowledge of sign language as we have extensive existing experience in this area and this role is more related to the visual processing of the data, although of any previous experience would be welcome. Applicants are expected to be proactive, to support other researchers and to be self-motivated.
