The Disney Lab at Duke University is looking for a postdoc to fill an R01-funded position. Funding start date is April 1; the position will remain open until filled.

The goal of this new project in the lab is to understand the functions of, and mechanism behind, cholinergic and serotonergic gain control at thalamocortical synapses in the primary visual cortex of the macaque monkey. This work will involve multi-channel electrophysiology (laminar arrays) combined with pharmacology, neurochemistry (microdialysis with LC/MS analysis) and psychophysics.

The successful candidate will gain experience in all of the above techniques and will be expected to collect and analyze data in a collaborative environment, prepare manuscripts for publication, and present data at conferences.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Neuroscience, Bioengineering, Psychology, or a closely-related discipline. The ability to work as part of a team is essential, as are strong quantitative and programming skills (e.g. R, Matlab, C++, Python). Prior experience working with non-human primates is strongly preferred.
