[visionlist] Idiap/EPFL (Switzerland): 1 Postdoctoral position in machine learning and vision to be filled immediately

The Perception and Activity Understanding group (PAU group, Jean-Marc Odobez, http://www.idiap.ch/~odobez/), at Idiap (www.idiap.ch), seeks one motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on body pose analysis from videos for sport player profiling and HRI. 

The position is funded by an innovation grant and the European project MuMMER. In the former case, in collaboration with the ProKeyCoach company, the goal will be to analyse typical postures and gestures of professional hockey players during dedicated exercices or real games and derive their profile, as defined by the expert. In the latter case, the main goal will be to track and infer 3D pose from 2D body landmarks, and complement the team efforts in this domain. 

The ideal postdoctoral candidate should hold a MS  and PhD degree in computer science, engineering, physics or applied mathematics. S/he should have a good background in statistics, linear algebra, signal processing, programming, machine learning. The successful applicant will have good analytical skills, and the ability to work and interact with non computer vision persons. The recruited person will complement and work with a number of other team members of the PAU group working on similar topics and tasks. 

Good experience (including practical experience) and understanding of deep learning techniques for computer vision tasks is required. Additional expertise in one of the topic below is a plus: 
- body landmark detection and pose estimation
- visual processing
- action recognition
- 3D computer vision
- realtime systems
- software: pyTorch, tensor flow

Exceptionally talented master students can also apply. 

The position is to be filled immediately and is funded until the 1st of march 2020, with possibilities of being renewed based on performance and available funding. The Annual gross salary is 80,000 CHF.
