The School of Psychology at The University of Queensland are looking to invest in world-leading research talent. We aim to support a number of applicants for Australian Research Council Future Fellowships, by committing to appoint successful candidates to a further 5-year research focused position at the end of their 4-year Fellowship. The full commitment amounts to a 9-year research-focused period.
The School of Psychology at The University of Queensland is consistently ranked in the top 30 internationally. We have ~50 academic staff<https://psychology.uq.edu.au/our-people>, with world-renowned researchers in Cognitive Neuroscience, Perception, Developmental, Organizational and Social Psychology.
Future Fellowships are awarded to outstanding mid-career candidates (within 15 years of being awarded a PhD at time of application) on a competitive basis by The Australian Research Council<https://www.arc.gov.au/grants/discovery-program/future-fellowships>. Future Fellowships are available to support investigations aiming to acquire basic knowledge – they do not support medical research or clinical trials<https://www.arc.gov.au/policies-strategies/policy/arc-medical-research-policy/arc-medical-research-policy-version-20181>. For 4 years, successful candidates are awarded annual salary support of between AUD 154,920 and 220,150 (USD 109,977 to 156,284, GBP 82,792 to 117,752), in addition to AUD 50,000 in annual research support.
At the conclusion of the Fellowship, supported candidates would transition to a 5-year research-focused appointment, at a matched salary, with appropriately scaled teaching and service commitments. This commitment will be written into the Fellowship Application, and fulfilled subject to satisfactory candidate performance during the fellowship. Further details are available from the University of Queensland – UQ Amplify<https://research.uq.edu.au/files/17631/Amplify_Schematic_NewFellowshipApplicants.pdf>.
Interested candidates should submit an Expression of Interest to A/Prof Derek Arnold<http://d.arnold@psy.uq.edu.au/>, by Friday 14th June 2019. Expressions of interest should contain a proposed project title, a half page project précis, and should either attach, or link to, the Candidate’s academic Curriculum Vitae.
