The Brain Development & Education Lab <http://depts.washington.edu/bdelab/>
seeks applications for a postdoc position to study the role of visual
spatial attention in the development of reading ability. We have funding
for an initial 1-year appointment (with possibility of extension) to
investigate how position coding, crowding, and spatial attention interact
in good and poor readers, with the aim of designing assistive technology.
The postdoc will be responsible for conducting a thorough literature review
on these topics and conducting a series of novel psychophysical
experiments. The expected start date is September, 2019 when the lab is
moving to Stanford.

Applications must have completed (or nearly completed) a PhD in
experimental psychology, neuroscience, or a related discipline. Required
skills are psychophysics, eye-tracking, programming (Matlab or Python) and
data analysis. Experience working with children or special populations is
desirable.

The position will be jointly mentored by Jason Yeatman and Alex White with
opportunities for collaboration with the Microsoft Advanced Reading
Technologies group on technologies to support reading development.

Please email a cover letter, CV, and contact information for 3 references
to jdyeatman at gmail.com and alexander.l.white at gmail.com. We will be
interviewing candidates at the Vision Sciences Society meeting this May.
