Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the University of Nevada, Reno. The postdoc will work in the Pieces of Mind Lab<https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fpiecesofmind.psyc.unr.edu&data=01%7C01%7Cmlescroart%40unr.edu%7Ca1a29672051f4f17943e08d665414ca0%7C523b4bfc0ebd4c03b2b96f6a17fd31d8%7C1&sdata=BiZGFBuR1TkVWlWmGGRMDW19ACk9whC%2FPYt7w35xBxo%3D&reserved=0> (PI: Mark Lescroart) on projects using a combination of fMRI, psychophysics, and cutting-edge encoding models to study how information about objects, bodies, and scenes is represented in the brain. Ongoing projects in the lab are investigating the representation of the 3D structure of objects and scenes in the brain, as well as the representation of shape dimensions in deep neural networks. Applicants should have experience writing code (in python, Matlab, R, C++, or equivalent languages). Experience with the Linux environment and python is preferred. Specific experience with machine learning techniques (regression analysis, classification, dimensionality reduction, deep neural networks), image processing, graphics and/or VR is also a plus. Researchers with experience in 3D graphics and an interest in the brain, even if they do not have experience with fMRI or neuroscience, are encouraged to apply. Full details about the position can be found here: http://piecesofmind.psyc.unr.edu/index.php/2019/04/24/postdoc-position-available/.
UNR has a strong vision group that is part of a large and vibrant neuroscience community. Researchers have excellent access to a wide variety of facilities for neuroimaging and virtual and augmented reality through the Center for Integrative Neuroscience (an NIH COBRE award). Reno sits at the base of the Eastern Sierras, minutes from Lake Tahoe and major ski resorts, and offers unlimited outdoor recreation and a unique and fun culture. The postdoc position is available to start as soon as Summer 2019 and will remain open until filled. UNR is an equal opportunity employer and applications from under-represented groups are encouraged. Applicants should contact Dr. Lescroart directly, and send a letter of intent, statement of research experience, a current CV and contact information for two references.
Potential applicants who are attending the Vision Sciences Society meeting this week are encouraged to talk to email Dr. Lescroart to set up an in-person meeting.
