Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Old Road Campus Building, Headington, Oxford
Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Oxygen research group at the Department of Engineering Science (IBME, Headington). This full-time post is funded by EPSRC and is fixed-term for up to 4 years.

The role will entail collecting and analysing pupillometry data from healthy volunteers using a comprehensive battery of light stimuli varying in intensity, wavelength and temporal waveform along with demographic parameters. Pupil stimulation protocols are optimised to target the difference photoreceptors in the human eye with high specificity. These data will be combined with neuroimaging and physiological data using machine learning approaches to determine an optimised, minimal data set and analysis algorithm for diagnosing specific CVR impairments in patient populations.

You will hold a PhD (or be near completion) in a relevant field and have experience with pupillometry or similar physiological measurements, time-series analysis, filtering and modelling of physiological data. Experience with machine learning and programming in Matlab, Python, or C++ would be beneficial, as well as experience with developing and using prototype devices and hardware.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Daniel Bulte (email: daniel.bulte at eng.ox.ac.uk<mailto:daniel.bulte at eng.ox.ac.uk>).

For more information about working at the Department, please see: www.eng.ox.ac.uk/about/work-with-us/<http://www.eng.ox.ac.uk/about/work-with-us/>

You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience fits with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.

Only online applications received before 12.00 noon on Wednesday 28 August 2019 can be considered.

The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
