Marius Peelen’s Visual Cognitive Neuroscience lab at the Donders Institute is looking for a post-doctoral fellow. The lab uses fMRI, EEG, MEG, TMS, computational modeling, and behavioral methods to study high-level visual perception and attention. The lab is interested in understanding (the neural basis of) factors that make naturalistic vision so efficient, including statistical learning, object grouping, context-based predictions, and top-down attentional guidance.

As a post-doctoral researcher, you will be expected to take the lead in developing and performing neuroimaging experiments (fMRI, EEG, MEG, or TMS) addressing one of these factors, measuring and analyzing responses in high-level visual cortex during naturalistic visual perception.

You should hold a PhD in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, or a related field, and have relevant experience in visual perception research and a strong motivation to pursue a scientific career. Experience with fMRI, EEG/MEG, and/or TMS is highly desirable, as is experience with scientific programming (e.g. MATLAB, Python). You will work in a highly collaborative lab environment and you will be expected to participate actively in lab events, discussions, and research collaborations.

The Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour is a world-class interfaculty research center, which houses more than 600 researchers devoted to understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of the human mind. Excellent, state-of-the-art research facilities are available for the broad range of neuroscience research conducted at the Donders Institute. The Donders Institute fosters a collaborative, multidisciplinary, supportive research environment with a diverse international staff. English is the lingua franca at the Institute.

Start date is flexible. The position is currently funded for 2 years.
For further information and informal enquiries, please contact Marius Peelen (m.peelen at donders.ru.nl<mailto:m.peelen at donders.ru.nl>) or visit the lab website (sites.google.com/site/peelenlab<https://sites.google.com/site/peelenlab/>).

Marius and several other lab members will be attending ECVP (Leuven, 25-29 August), CCN (Berlin, 13-16 September), and Systems Neuroscience Symposium (Tuebingen, 26-27 September).
