POST-DOC IN GIESSEN ON PERCEPTION AND ACTION IN VIRTUAL REALITY

Starting date between February 1 and July 1, 2020

A 3-year postdoctoral position is available in the department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Giessen, Germany. The successful candidate will join the groups of Katja Fiehler and Karl Gegenfurtner.

We are looking for an experienced researcher to join our interdisciplinary team on visual perception and sensorimotor control. The candidate will have the opportunity to proceed their own research agenda (theoretical, experimental or method's development) and to collaborate with researchers on a variety of topics in visual perception, predictive behavior and sensorimotor control.

Requirements: Ideally, the successful candidate will have a strong background in virtual reality and in human psychophysics or kinematic data analysis. Candidates should have demonstrable experience in VR programming (e.g., Unity, Vizard, Unreal Engine) and 3D rendering software. Knowledge in eye and body movement tracking is of advantage. A Master's degree in Experimental Psychology or a related field (e.g., computer science, neuroscience) is required.

Opportunities: Our Virtual Reality lab offers excellent facilities and is well equipped with calibrated color displays, eye, hand, and body motion tracking devices as well as equipment measuring physiological parameters (e.g. EEG, skin conductance, electromyographic activity) in combination with stereoscopic displays.

Environment: We are part of a larger research consortium on perception and action with excellent links to scientists within Europe and worldwide (http://www.sfb-perception.de; http://www.irtg-brainact.de<http://www.irtg-brainact.de/>). The group offers a stimulating, multi-national and multi-disciplinary research environment for young scientists (http://www.allpsych.uni-giessen.de). Giessen is a small university town, located just 60 km north of Frankfurt, right at the center of Germany.

Informal inquiries are highly encouraged. Full applications should include a CV, a statement of research interests, and the names of up to 3 people who could write a letter of reference.
