Dear colleagues,

One postdoctoral and two PhD positions are available to investigate visual perception with appearance-based methods and adaptive optics microstimulation.

All positions are part of a collaborative project dedicated to investigate visual perception of shape, starting at the retinal signals arriving in individual photoreceptors up to the level of how a visual stimulus appears to an observer.

Positions are based in the [ http://ao.ukbonn.de/ | Adaptive Optics Imaging and Visual Psychophysics Lab ] at the Department of Ophthalmology (University of Bonn Medical School, Germany), and the [ http://www.scalab.cnrs.fr/ | SCALab, CNRS ] at the University of Lille (Lille, France).

Depending on the position, possible starting dates range from February to August 2020. Both Postdoc and PhD positions are for 36 months. Application period starts immediately and is open until positions are filled.

Candidates for the postdoc/PhD positions are expected to hold a PhD/Master degree in psychology, optical engineering, physics, computer science, neuroscience, or related field. Prior research experience with visual psychophysics and/or retinal imaging is desirable. The ideal candidates will be ambitious and highly motivated, with a promising record of accomplishment and enthusiasm for doing vision science.

To apply, please send your statement of motivation, CV, contact information of two references, and a letter of reference in a single pdf to Bilge Sayim and Wolf Harmening.

Informal inquiries are welcome.
