We invite contributions to the IEEE/RSJ ICRA 2020 Full day Workshop
                     "Unconventional Sensors in Robotics:
Perception for Online Learning, Adaptive Behavior, and Cognition”
                     (31.May/04.June, 2020, Paris, France):

https://sites.google.com/view/unconventional-sensors/home

Important dates:

Extended abstract submission (2 pages): March 15th
Notification of acceptance: April 19th
Final submission: May 3rd

Submissions:

Manuscripts of up to 2 pages (IEEE ICRA format) should be submitted via CMT:

	 https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/USR2020

Accepted abstracts will be presented in a poster session or oral
presentation (selected abstracts). Based on the quality of the submissions, a
journal special issue may be edited.

Topic:

Existing unconventional sensors can boost the applicability of robotic
solutions in challenging scenarios, but may require special purpose processing
hardware and new algorithms. Various challenges that involve several research
communities (perception, learning, control, and hardware) arise.

The sensing modalities that we will discuss include (but are not limited to):

- Tactile sensing
- Unconventional vision-based sensors (e.g. Event-based, polarisation,
novel approaches to time of flight and structured light sensors)
- Olfaction (chemical sensors)
- Auditory sensors
- Electric sensors
- Magnetic field sensors
- Anemometers

We welcome contributions on all robotic research areas and
applications, where unconventional sensor are or may be used, including:

- Control algorithms using unconventional sensing
- Learning approaches using data from unconventional sensors
- Novel sensing devices and/or paradigms
- Perception/estimation algorithms from unconventional data
- Navigation algorithms that use unconventional sensors
- Applications, field reports and system papers related to
  unconventional sensing

Confirmed speakers:

- Chiara Bartolozzi (Italian Institute of Technology, Italy) -> spike-based tactile sensors
- Davide Migliore (Prophesee, France) -> event-based vision sensors
- Frederic Boyer (IMT Atlantique, France)
- Takumi Kawasetsu (The University of Tokyo, Japan) -> new technology for tactile sensors
- Piotr Dudek (The University of Manchester, UK) -> in focal plane processor arrays
- Michael Schmuker (University of Hertfordshire, UK) -> olfaction
- Shih-Chii Liu, INI (UZH/ETHZ, Switzerland) -> neuromorphic auditory sensing

Organising Committee:
