The Philipps-University Marburg and the Justus-Liebig-University Gießen aim strategically to strengthen the field of Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience within the jointly operated Center for Mind, Brain and Behavior (CMBB). Supported by the Hessen State Ministry for Higher Education, Research and the Arts, applications for

		TWO JUNIOR RESEARCH GROUP LEADER POSITIONS 

							in

	COMPUTATIONAL APPROACHES TO MIND, BRAIN AND BEHAVIOR 

are invited. The positions are available immediately and are fixed term for four years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. Subject to the availability of additional funds, an extension of up to two years is envisaged. One Junior Research Group will be established in Marburg, the other in Gießen. Both Junior Research Groups come with start-up and yearly funding (comprising a PhD student position and consumables) for the duration of the position. The positions are full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hessen, Germany (TV-H E 15, 100%).

The successful applicants will have a doctorate as well as post-doctoral or equivalent experience and an established international reputation in any of the following areas: cognitive sciences, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, experimental psychology, sensorimotor research or computational approaches to psychological disorders / psychiatry, or other allied fields. The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate international excellence in research through an outstanding publication record as well as other indicators, such as successful acquisition of third-part funding. A track-record of interdisciplinary research and especially expertise in the application of deep learning or other machine learning methods to mind, brain and behavior will be a significant advantage.

The successful applicants will join a thriving research community under the umbrella of the Center for Mind, Brain and Behavior with strong regional, national and international connections and will contribute to the Collaborative Research Center (SFB/TRR 135) on Cardinal Mechanisms of Perception, the IRTG 1901 The Brain in Action, the Research Unit FOR207 Neurobiology of Psychiatric Disorders as well as other collaborative research endeavors. Researchers that can complement and enhance our strengths in measuring and modelling basic processes of perception, thought and action and/or their neural representations (including big-data approaches) will have a significant advantage.
