Job title: Research Associate in Machine Learning and Privacy

Salary: Grade 7 (£33,199 - £39,609)
Duration: fixed term till Jan 31 2022 and available immediately

Description:
Do you want to develop new paradigms for measuring if machine learning models leak data?
This is an immensely exciting opportunity to join the iCAIRD project [https://icaird.com/] which has received over £15m funding from Innovate UK and industrial partners to bring AI within the NHS.
We are looking for an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join the team led by Prof. Sotirios Tsaftaris, and work in close partnership with industry (Canon Medical, Nvidia), academic experts in privacy, and NHS to address challenges of deploying artificial intelligence algorithms on sensitive data.
Areas of particular interest include: model inversion, membership inference attack, generative learning and reinforcement learning.

Environment:
The candidate will:
* join a dynamic, international team of several postdocs and students working in the area of healthcare and deep learning at the University of Edinburgh –a powerhouse in artificial intelligence, engineering and medicine;
* contribute to an exciting project where deep learning meets healthcare data directly addressing industry and societal needs;
* collaborate closely with the Edinburgh-based R&D centre of Canon Medical a conglomerate in medical imaging;
* interact with several experts and partners within iCAIRD a large multi-site collaboration [https://icaird.com/].

Requirements:
* PhD (or close to completion) in electrical engineering, computer science or related discipline
* record of international publications demonstrating prior experience in machine learning
* good programming skills
* strong mathematical background
* good communication skills
* ability to work within a team
