[Apologies for multiple postings]

Due to concerns and requests we have received from (potential)
contributors, we have extended the submission deadline by two weeks. The
new deadline is **May 8, 2020**.

This workshop will follow any logistic decision of the IJCAI main
conference. Either doing it remotely or delaying it until a later date, we
will follow that of the main conference (which is to be determined).

Should you have any questions, please forward them to Sejong (yoons at tcnj.edu
).

Best Regards,
NCMHE Organizers (Vladimir Pavlovic, Mubbasir Kapadia, Sejong Yoon)

===== Revised CfP =====
We are pleased to announce the call for contributions for the inaugural
IJCAII 2020 Workshop on Neuro-Cognitive Modeling of Humans and
Environments, which will be held in Yokohama, Japan on Monday, 13th of
July, 2020. The workshop is a half-day workshop that aims to initiate
multidisciplinary gathering of experts interested in the area of dynamic
human crowd motion and behavior, and their relationships to environmental
conditions.

We are looking for two-page extended abstracts that can be presented in
poster and spotlight sessions. Please find the details of the submission
instructions below. Additional information (e.g., invited speakers) will be
available on our website (https://ncmhe.github.io/).

We are looking forward to seeing you in Yokohama!

=== SUMMARY ===
Title: Neuro-Cognitive Modeling of Humans and Environments
When: July 13, 2020 (Morning)
Where: Yokohama, Japan
What: 2 page extended abstract in IJCAI format
How: Submit to CMT site (now accepting submissions) --
https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/NCMHE2020
Deadline: April 24, 2020

=== DETAILS ===
1. Background
Recent advances in AI help improve our understanding on dynamic human crowd
motion and behavior. These advances provide essential grounds for modeling
and simulating human crowds under various environmental conditions such as
architectural structures (e.g. buildings, stations, stadiums, museums,
airports). There is a growing recent interest in identifying the
relationship between human (crowd) behavior and the built environmental
structures, utilizing recent developments in AI and machine learning
techniques as well as incorporating findings from perceptual, cognitive
principles.

This inaugural IJCAI-PRICAI 2020 Workshop aims to initiate the
first-of-its-kind gathering of multidisciplinary experts interested in this
area. This multidisciplinary approach combines cognitive principles and
many different areas of machine learning to study the relationship between
human behavior and the spaces they inhabit. It will also provide a platform
for discussion on collecting appropriate data and challenges in the future
gatherings.

We are looking for submissions of position papers and work-in-progress
extended abstracts (2 pages) on the relevant topics, including but not
limited to:

- Identifying existing challenges in the modeling of humans and environments
- Identifying and analyzing the relationships between human (crowd) and
various environments
- Novel neuro-cognitive models for human (crowd) motion and behavior
- Deep learning-based models
- Reinforcement learning-based models
- Graph-based representation learning models
- Applications of neuro-cognitive models for human (crowd) and environment
- Datasets for studying human (crowd) and environment relationships

2. How to Submit
Papers must be written in English, and no longer than 2 pages in
IJCAI-PRICAI format. Only the list of references may go beyond this page
limit. Optionally, you may submit supplementary materials (e.g. videos) up
to 20 MB.

The reviewing process will follow the double blind policy. Position papers,
forwarding looking work (work yet to be done), and summaries of recently
published work are all welcome.

The official template can be downloaded from:
https://www.ijcai.org/authors_kit

Ths link to the submission CMT site is open:
https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/NCMHE2020

3. IMPORTANT DATES
Submission deadline: **May 8, 2020** (Extended)
Acceptance notification: May 26, 2020
Camera ready deadline: May 31, 2020
Workshop date: July 13, 2020 (Morning)

4. Program Schedule
The inaugural event will be scheduled as a half-day workshop, with 1~2
invited talks and spotlight presentations followed by a poster session. The
details will be announced closer to the workshop date on the website:
https://ncmhe.github.io/ For each accepted paper, an author is expected to
register and attend the workshop to present the work.
