Apologies for cross-posting.

Post-Doc position available on healthy and pathologicalneural and cognitive
aging (using neuropsychological assessment andneuroimaging/fMRI) – deadline
November 19

The Proaction Laboratory (Perception and Recognition of Objects and Actions;
proactionlab.fpce.uc.pt/; Jorge Almeida’s Lab) and the PsyAssessment lab (
http://psyassessmentlab.fpce.uc.pt/; Mário Simões’s Lab) at the University
of Coimbra (www.uc.pt), Portugal, are looking for a motivated and bright
Post-doctoral researcher to investigate healthy and pathological neural and
cognitive aging using neuropsychological assessment and neuroimaging tools
(namely fMRI/DTI). This position is funded by the Portuguese Science
Foundation, and is for 3 years (potentially renewable). Researchers will
work directly with Jorge Almeida, Mário Simões, and colleagues of the two
labs in Coimbra.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants should have a PhD degree in psychology or any of the areas
associated with the position (or related areas): neuroimaging,
neuropsychological assessment and neural and cognitive aging. The selected
candidate will be responsible for preparing and implementing projects and
experiments, and analyzing data on healthy and pathological neural and
cognitive aging using neuropsychological assessment and neuroimaging
(namely fMRI), and thus should be an expert in the use of these techniques
on aging issues. The candidate should be an expert (or have knowledge) on
univariate and multivariate analysis of fMRI (in aging), on
neuropsychological assessment in aging, and on the use of computational
models or machine learning on these data. The candidate should also have
good command of the use of matlab, python or other high-level programming
language, and be proficient in Portuguese OR English. This position will
require designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data associated
with the project, preparing manuscripts for publication, presenting results
at national and international conferences and the possible supervision of
research assistants and students.

The Position:

The call is open from *November 6 to November 19, 2020*. This is a 3-year
position (potentially renewable), with a monthly salary (prior to taxes) of
2134,73 euros (after taxes should be 1500 euros per month depending on
tax-related issues). Note that the Portuguese system pays 14 months per
year (12 + an extra salary in the summer vacation and one in the winter
vacation). The salary is competitive for the cost of living in Portugal
(and particularly in Coimbra), and follows the Portuguese Post-Doctoral
rates. The reference of the position is: IT057-20-10242.

The University and facilities:

We have access to a 3T MRI scanner with a 64-channel coil (with EEG inside
the scanner), to tDCS and TMS with neuronavigation, to a 256 ch EEG, to a
motion tracker and eyetracker, to numerous assessment batteries, to a fully
set psychophysics lab, and we are now starting a small VR lab. The
University of Coimbra is a 700-year-old University and has been selected as
a UNESCO world Heritage site. Coimbra is one of the liveliest university
cities in the world, and it is a beautiful city with easy access to the
beach and mountain.

How to apply:

Qualified individuals are encouraged to apply immediately – November 19 is
a hard deadline for this application. We particularly encourage
applications from women, and other underrepresented groups. The University
