Dear all,

We are delighted to announce the start of ArC: Art in Conversation
<https://artinconversation.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk/events/>, a
multidisciplinary seminar series about art hosted by the University of St
Andrews.

Our first seminar will be held this Friday (5th) at 1.00-2.30pm (GMT). We
are delighted to welcome Professor Marcos Nadal (neuroscience) and
Professor Michael Kelly (philosophy), who will present their talks on “What
is aesthetics?”.

Synopsis: Art is traditionally linked to the study of aesthetics. However,
the understanding of what aesthetics is differs across and sometimes within
disciplines. For instance, terms “art” and “aesthetics” are often used
interchangeably in psychological research. We will discuss the concept of
aesthetics in the context of art, how it evolved across art history and how
this term can be integrated in the context of neuroscience.

The seminar will be held on Teams and it is open to anyone interested in
