VSS is pleased to present the ninth annual Davida Teller Award to Marisa Carrasco. The Davida Teller Award was established in honor of Professor Davida Teller’s exceptional scientific achievements, commitment to equity, and strong history of mentoring. The award is given to a female vision scientist in recognition of her exceptional, lasting contributions to the field of vision science. 

Marisa Carrasco is a Julius Silver Professor of Psychology and Neural Science at New York University. She has been Collegiate Professor at NYU since 2007 and served as chair of the Psychology Department from 2001-2007. At NYU, Professor Carrasco received a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Cattell Fellowship and was named a fellow of the American Psychological Society. Among her many contributions to the vision sciences community, Professor Carrasco has been a senior editor of two scientific journals, Journal of Vision and Vision Research, and she has served as president of both the Vision Sciences Society and the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness. A dedicated teacher and mentor of junior scientists at all levels of training, Marisa Carrasco received the NYU award for excellence in postdoctoral mentoring in 2018.
