Applications are invited for two postdoc positions in the lab of
Alexander Schütz (https://www.uni-marburg.de/en/fb04/team-schuetz) at
Marburg University.

The positions are funded by the ERC Consolidator Grant "Sensation and
Inferences in Perception, Metacognition and Action (SENCES)”. In SENCES,
we will investigate how the brain treats own, inferred signals compared
to sensory signals in different types of sensory gaps, such as the
blind-spot, amodal completion and pathological scotomata. The project
combines multiple methods such as psychophysics, computational
modelling, EEG and clinical work with patients. A representative
publication can be found here: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.2019.02.023

Position 1: The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for
conducting psychophysical studies with patients suffering from vision
disorders, such as amblyopia and age-related macular degeneration. The
successful applicant will hold a MSc-degree or equivalent in
Ophthalmology/Optometry, Psychology, Neuroscience or a related field and
a PhD on a related topic. Research experience in at least one of the
following fields is expected: ophthalmology/optometry, psychophysics or
eye tracking. Experience with eye tracking in patients with visual field
defects is desirable.

Position 2: The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for
conducting psychophysical studies with healthy participants and for
developing a computational model about the processing of inferred and
sensory signals. The successful applicant will hold a MSc-degree or
equivalent in Computer Science, Psychology, Neuroscience or a related
field and a PhD on a related topic. Research experience in at least one
of the following fields is expected: psychophysics, metacognition or
theoretical neuroscience. Strong technical skills and experience in
computational modelling are desirable.

The positions are fixed-term from 01.07.2021 to 30.06.2025 (dates are
negotiable). More information on the positions can be found here:
https://www.uni-marburg.de/de/universitaet/administration/verwaltung/dezernat2/personalabteilung/bewerber/stellen/wissenschaftliche-stellen/fb04-0009-wmz-020421-englisch.pdf

Full applications mentioning the reference number fb04-0009-wmz-2021
should be sent in one PDF file to a.schuetz at uni-marburg.de before April
2nd, 2021. Informal inquiries are welcome.
